I had a reason to restart the Notes Client from a clean Notes.INI. I have done this on many occasions before (with previous releases) to clean out old INI settings etc.
I reduced the INI file down to a minimal subset
[Notes]
KitType=1
Directory=C:\Documents and Settings\Gareth Howell\Application Data\Lotus\Notes\Data
InstallType=2
And ran the client.
The client started in setup mode as usual and prompted for location.
It then prompted for user name and server.
It then went and retrieved my ID file (we use password/ID recovery)
At this point it got stuck in a loop
It displayed the info box that
"Your Windows account password does not match your Notes password. To synchronize the passwords, use File - Security - User Security and click Change Password"
I clicked OK and the box re-appeared after a delay.
I couldn't get past this point and had to kill the nlnotes.exe process (Notes hadn't got as far as creating an Application entry in the Windows Task Manager. I then had to reboot.
Luckily I had a backup of my Notes.INI
BTW, my ID and account passwords do match!
